Things to do in Patong

Bangla Road or Soi Bangla is the hub of nightlife in Phuket. It is a merry 400-metre stretch of road close to Patong beach that has been cordoned off from traffic and is reserved for only walking. It has a vibrant display of bright lights, street performances, street vendors, restaurants, shops, bars, and much more.

Jungceylon is one of the largest shopping malls in southern Thailand. The mall's glittering and shimmering shops and lively atmosphere make it the best destination for shopping and entertainment in Phuket. While strolling across the Jungceylon Mall, you cannot ignore noticing two of its largest stores – Robinson and the Big C Supermarket.

Simon Cabaret is located at 8 Sirirat Road in Phuket, Thailand. It is an intimate theatre which offers live cabaret shows by dancers in sparkly attire and head-dresses. Established in 1991, Simon Cabaret has a jaw-dropping stage design with hi-tech sound system and lighting equipment. The theatre has been providing a rich source for entertainment for its visitors.

Freedom Beach is a pristine 300m stretch of white sand peppered with granite rocks and surrounded by lush green hills full of jungles. The unique location of Freedom Beach gives it an exceptional feel. Although it wasn't easy to access this beach earlier, it has become much simpler to go to via longtail boats nowadays.

Often called the party capital of Asia, Patong Beach is the most popular beach in Phuket. Known for its clean sandy shores, bold nightlife and colourful attractions, Patong Beach accommodates swimming, parasailing and other water sports during the day. At night you can check out its fantastic nightlife. This beach may be crowded, but it has lots of food and shopping options.

Patong Gokart Speedway is the perfect destination for a fun-filled and adventurous outing with family and friends. The 750-metre long race track has sharp curves, smooth bends and Start/Finish lines. Safety of the riders stands first, and all the karts and buggies are well-maintained. The staff members clearly explain what and what not to do while racing.

Situated close to Patong Beach, the Paradise Beach of Phuket is one of the most attractive beaches on the island. Contrary to the peaceful atmosphere at Paradise Beach during regular days, it is crowded with people around the Full Moon Festival, which takes place every month.

The Red Mountain Golf Course is one of the most famous golf courses in Phuket. It is located near another top-rated course, the Loch Palm Golf Course. The topography of this golf course consists mainly of red soil, granite rock pieces and that is how it got its name, Red Mountain.This golf course is situated a little far from the city limits of Phuket, giving this place a sense of serenity and peace.

Malin Plaza in south Patong is a bazaar known for its amazing local food offerings. Some of the popular choices include tropical fruits like mango and star fruits, Thai pancakes, and sticky rice, as well as buying fresh fish and getting it cooked by the locals. It is also a great place to pick up some traditional Thai trinkets!

When tourists get tired of the beaches, they choose to drop by the open-air market i.e. OTOP Shopping Paradise in Patong, Phuket. It is indeed the best place to pick up a number of local products including textiles, handicrafts, pottery and electronic goods at affordable rates. The place is found to be crowded in the evenings with most people making a beeline for the bars and food carts parked nearby. The term OTOP is an acronym for ‘One Tambon One Product’ that begun as a venture to promote indigenous products created by the sub districts (Tambon) across Thailand.

The local markets of Phuket, especially the night markets in Patong, are fun places where the visitors can bargain vigorously, often obtaining products at throwaway prices. The night markets are colourful places with a surprising array of goods offered by the hawkers. The smells emanating out of the area are unfamiliar and interesting at the same time often leaving the visitors enthralled. The Patong night markets operate from early evening and continue to sell their wares until the late hours of the night.

Patong Boxing Stadium is a renowned venue for the exciting and physically demanding sport of Muay Thai, often referred to as "the art of eight limbs." Situated in the heart of Patong, this stadium is a focal point for both local and international visitors looking to witness or participate in this centuries-old martial art.

The Phuket Mining Museum, an impressive Sino-Portuguese style pink building, gives one an insight into Phuket's rich mining history. Also known as Kathu Mining Museum, this carefully designed structure houses many impressive mining artefacts, one of the star attractions being the scaled model of a mine depicting hundreds of wax figures at work.

The Wat Suwan Khiri Wong or the Patong temple, is a dazzling red and gold extravaganza offering a glimpse into the rich culture of old Patong. The intricately designed roof, gold coated detail and majestic Buddha statue make this a must-visit for anyone wishing to soak in Thai architecture.

Phuket Wake Park, with its array of adventure activities and fitness training, is a great experience for those wishing to enjoy challenging themselves. It provides a range of options including a full-size main cable with obstacles as well as professional training experience. There are also good lounges to relax and grab some yum Thai food!

Kalim beach is a small, quiet beach located next to Patong beach, where people generally stop by to have a nice walk or a meal at one of the popular restaurants overlooking the beautiful bay. Some famous ones include Joe's Downstairs, SeaSalt Lounge and Grill and the local Kalim Rim Lay, a little bamboo shack by the sea.

Kathu Waterfall is loved by tourists for its many layers of clear, cascading water. The first two layers are relatively easy to climb, while reaching the third and fourth are relatively challenging - but still worth it! It is a perfect picnic spot, surrounding by the sound of gurgling water and green canopy.
