Also known as Naka Market, the Phuket Weekend Market is one of the island's largest markets for shopping and street food, open Saturday and Sunday. Expect everything from souvenirs, secondhand goods and pirated DVDs to clothing, plus stalls selling local Thai snacks at prices well below what you'd pay in Patong. It draws as many locals as tourists, which keeps prices and the atmosphere more genuine than the more touristy night markets.
Situated just a little outside Phuket Town, along Chao Fa West Road, this weekend market is also nicknamed as “Phuket Chatuchak” because of its uncanny resemblance to the gigantic Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok. Initially, the locals used to call this weekend market 'Talad Tairod', which meant 'Car Boot Sale'. But, now this market only goes by Naka Market or Phuket Weekend Night Market.
