A Surreal Getaway to Bangalore's Chhota Ladakh

Located at a distance of around 60 km from Bangalore, Chhota Ladakh (also known as Dodda Ayur) is a tiny abandoned quarry that has been filled with rainwater and is flanked by solid rocks. It has a slight resemblance to the Ladakh landscape. The place is best known among the bikers who go here to enjoy a nice bike ride. However, it is recommended that you go only during early morning or in the late evening since the harsh sun gets unbearable during the day with no nooks to hide.

Dodda Ayur or Chhota Ladakh has been cut off from the outside world and hence is very serene and tranquil. The presence of a quaint water body in the centre of the region adds to the charm of the place. This, combined with majestic mountains in the backdrop is a sight to behold. Camping is a popular activity in the place.

Activities in Chhota Ladakh

  1. The most popular activity in Dodda Ayur is a bike ride. Because of the proximity of the place to Bangalore, it is considered to be a 'Breakfast Getaway'. The bikers and riders can ride to the place in the early hours of the morning or in the evening.
  2. Take a picnic basket and sit here in the surroundings of beauteous nature, green hills and pleasant atmosphere. You can relax and chill here away from the chaos and hustle-bustle of the city.
  3. Camping is another activity at the site. You can pitch a tent on your own and light a bonfire and sit by the lake. Watch the stars at night and enjoy a wonderful experience.
