10 Malls in Langkawi for the Best Shopping Experience

Known for its turquoise waters, beaches, and waterfalls, Langkawi is also a shopper’s paradise. The malls in Langkawi cater to your every need, with high-end products and affordable, everyday goods on sale on the island. In addition, the island, located off Malaysia’s northwest coast, is a duty-free destination, which makes some malls in Langkawi even more attractive.

Here is a list of the best malls to visit in Langkawi -

1. Langkawi Saga Shopping Centre

The Langkawi Saga Shopping Centre is home to duty-free shops and local dollar stores like Mr Dollar. The mall also sells a variety of chocolates, including household names like Cadbury and M&Ms, at lower prices than the rest of the island. In addition, there’s a great variety of alcohol on sale at bargain prices. You can buy household items, ceramicware, and clothing items in the mall.

2. Kompleks HiG Duty Free Mall

Renovated in 2019, this mall sells the widest range of tax and duty-free products in Langkawi. The narrow aisles of the mall are filled with household items, kitchenware, cutlery, water bottles, luggage and chocolates at bargain basement prices. Langkawi is rich in cocoa production, reflected in the wide range of chocolates on sale here. The mall has an attached ATM and a food court serving both Asian and Western fare.

Timings: 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM daily

3. Cenang Mall

The Cenang Mall is located along Cenang Beach and is home to shops selling beachwear, a supermarket, small restaurants, a KFC and a Starbucks. This small air-conditioned mall is more of a stop where tourists can get their basic necessities. Along with small local shops selling goods at affordable prices, there is also a spa.

Timings: 11 AM to 11 PM daily

4. Coco Valley

Langkawi is known for its cocoa production, and Coco Valley is a testament to that, with a wide range of chocolates on sale. The mall is stocked with brands such as Hershey’s, Toblerone, Nutella and Beryl’s, while cookware, liquor, batik products as well as souvenirs can also be found. This shopping complex is also duty-free, which means the liquor, tobacco, perfumes, watches, and the like are on sale at much cheaper prices.

Timings: 10 AM to 7 PM daily

5. Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall

The Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall is home to over 100 retail brands, making it one of the biggest malls on the island. A 'Billion Duty Free Supermarket' Outlet is attached to the mall, and inside it are pharmacies, eateries, and stores of leading sports brands like Nike, Converse and Speedo. The variety of shops and goods on sale in this two-storey mall makes up for the lack of high-end stores and plain decorations - goods on sale range from souvenirs to handicrafts and clothing items.

Timings: 10 AM to 9 PM daily

6. The Zon Duty Free Zone Shopping Centre

Located right next to the Langkawi Underwater World, the Zon Duty Free Zone sells a wide variety of liquor, chocolates, watches, leather products, perfumes, cosmetics, and designer goods. The mall also has a food court that serves delectable local delicacies. Parking is a little expensive, however, at RM 5 per entry. While the Zon Duty Free Zone has smaller outlets in other parts of Malaysia, the Langkawi outlet is the biggest, selling items of luggage, bags, sunglasses and jewellery.

Timings: 10 AM to 7 PM daily

7. Zeno Duty Free Centre

Zeno Duty Free Centre offers an impressive selection of chocolates, confectionery items, kitchenware, dining ware and snacks, with enough stock available. Like the other duty-free shops, liquor, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, sunglasses and other designer products are available.

Timings: 10 AM to 10 PM daily

8. Langkawi Parade

Now renamed the Langkawi Parade Megamall, this three-storey shopping complex is home to the only cinema hall on the island. The mall is home to over 40 duty-free outlets selling food and retail items, including clothing brands like Guess, Billabong and Body Glove. There is an ATM inside the mall and a food court serving local, Asian and continental fare. In addition, there are shops in the atrium in the centre, selling cheaper products.

Timings: 10 AM to 6 PM daily

9. Jetty Point Complex

The Jetty Point Complex is located within Langkawi’s main ferry terminal. The two-storey building is home to a Tourist Information Centre on the ground floor, from where tourists can pick up maps and brochures about the island. The ground floor is also home to shops selling cameras, chocolates, eyewear, jewellery, watches and souvenirs. In addition, the department store on the first floor sells clothing items, cosmetics, lingerie, liquor, perfume, tobacco and the like, all free of import duty.

Timings: 2 PM to 11 PM daily

10. Teow Soon Huat Duty-Free

A massive duty-free shopping centre, Teow Soon Huat, is located along the Padang Matsirat area, housing over 60 outlets. The best-selling items include household goods, confectionaries, apparel, luggage and bags, groceries and imported tobacco and liquor. Visitors can treat themselves to an overwhelming discount of up to 70% every day off the retail prices.

One can hunt liquors, wines, beers and cigars from brands worldwide on the ground floor. Chocolate lovers can indulge in a tempting exploration of international brands of chocolates offered at about 30-60% lower than their retail prices.
Timings: 10 AM to 10 PM

Langkawi has been duty-free since 1987, and while not all malls enjoy this duty-free status, quite a few of them do. These malls sell liquor, cosmetics, perfumes, chocolates and snacks and 30 percent less than everywhere else on the island.

Tips for Duty-free Shopping in the Malls in Langkawi

  • To make duty-free purchases, you must stay in Langkawi for at least 48 hours to fulfil the minimum stay requirement.
  • While you can take an unlimited number of duty-free goods out of Langkawi, what you bring back home depends on your country’s customs restrictions. Keep that in mind when shopping.
  • You can bring almost all dutiable goods into Langkawi, as no customs duty applies.
  • Not all duty-free shops sell at cheaper rates. Some shops might actually charge higher prices for products.
