Dataran Lang, Langkawi Overview

The Dataran Lang, popularly known as the Eagle Square, is a photo spot in Langkawi, featuring a 12-metre tall eagle statue. The Square is beautifully bordered with picturesque ponds, bridges and fountains.

This giant eagle statue is positioned in such a way that it overlooks the Kuah Jetty. There are some stalls at Dataran Lang, selling local traditional pottery and handicrafts. The sunset point nearby offers a glorious, warm view of the sun sinking.

  • The Malay word ‘helang’ means eagle and ‘kawi’ means reddish brown. One combining these two words, it forms the word- Langkawi. This 12 meter tall statue thus forms the national emblem of Langkawi.
