The east coast of Malaysia experience stormy weather in November. In contrast, the peak season for visiting beaches and islands along Malaysia’s west coast starts in November. It is the wettest month in Kuala Lumpur, with an average humidity of around 84% and rainfall almost daily. The average temperature in Malaysia in November ranges around 24 degrees Celcius to 30 degrees Celcius. 

The East Coast of Malaysia has high rainfall and rough weather conditions in November due to the northeast monsoon winds from China. Most hotels and resorts close on the east coast and re-opens in March. The main tourist places on the east coast are Kuantan, Perhentian Islands, Tioman Island, Terengganu, Redang, and Kota Bharu. 

For the West Coast of Malaysia, November is the beginning of the peak tourist season with comparatively lesser rainfall. It is the ideal time to tour the Cameron Highlands, Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, and Melaka.

From soaring high into the cable cars to enjoying a cruise ride, visitors have a lot of not-to-miss thrilling recreations at this archipelago.

1. Diwali

One of the biggest festivals celebrated in Malaysia in November with great pomp and show is Diwali or Deepawali. Signifying the victory of good over evil, this festival of lights is rejoiced by visiting all the Hindu temples that are adorned with lovely aromatic flowers and are offered with some coconut milk and fruits by devotees. These devotees have an oil bath on the morning of Deepavali and head towards the temple for prayers and rites. People draw beautiful kolams or rice powder rangolis outside their houses. Remarkable firework displays are held at night, and homes are decorated beautifully with colourful lights. Do not forget to try the yummy samosas, murukku, laddoos, and other Indian delicacies that are sure to leave every gourmand delighted.

What to Pack?

  • Penang is known to experience some rainfall in November, so make sure to carry your raincoats and umbrellas. 
  • The temperature along the west coast can be a bit hot at times, so don’t forget to carry your sunglasses.
  • Pack loose, comfortable clothes like short-sleeved shirts and half pants or shorts to keep yourself cool.
  • Since this is a hot and humid country, do not step outside without sunscreen and hat.
