Created in 2002 by Rodney Wright & Peter Alliss, this golf course is a charming place to play for the golfers. As it is located in a hilly area, and bracketed by some beautiful natural fairways, golfers are strongly recommended to visit with their club carts. The putts are quite challenging, and the greens are often hard to read. Some of these holes are water-protected; hence, it is advisable to carry a few extra golf balls.

It is located precisely at the centre of Mauritius and is famous among the local golfers. Opened in 1994, this one is the first-ever championship golf course for the Constance Resorts and Hotels. Designed by the famous Hugh Biaocchi in 1994, the golf course was built within an old hunting reserve, and this has helped the golfers get a glimpse of some deer at times. The Mont Choisy Golf Course is the only 18-hole par 72 championship golf course in northern Mauritius. Designed by the golfer Peter Matkovich, it is an ideal course for amateur and professional golfers that frequently hosts national and international tournaments. This stunning golf course is surrounded by lush greenery and is known for its ponds, volcanic rock outcrops and a multitude of trees.

Location: The golf course is situated in Gran Bay in north Mauritius.

12. Le Saint Geran Golf Club

Designed by Gary Player, the Le Saint Géran Golf Club opened in 1970 and is the second oldest golf course in Mauritius. It is a 9-hole par 33 course set amidst a coconut tree plantation overlooking the Indian Ocean. The course features fairways and greens with coconut trees and water hazards, some of which are hidden. This course is an excellent place for both beginners and professionals.

Location: It is situated in Poste de Flacq, on the eastern coast of Mauritius.

  • One can hone their golf skills at the Golf Academy under the guidance of David Leadbetter-trained instructors. Facilities like video-analysis, a practise pitch and more are available. 
  • The Clubhouse is situated at the centre of the golf course. It has a bar and restaurant which serve a variety of drinks and snacks. 
  • One can rent golf balls, an electro-cart and other equipment and even request a caddy.

The Golf du Château is an 18-hole par 72 championship golf course in southern Mauritius that was designed by Peter Matkovich. It is spread out over an area of 100 hectares, has 5 different tee options for each hole, wide fairways and features trees, lakes and streams which make for an exciting game. The course is linked to the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort and is located in a beautiful area, with volcanic mountains and the great Indian Ocean surrounding it. Albeit a challenging course, it is suitable for both amateurs and seasoned golfers.

Timings: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Summers), 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Winters)
Location: It is situated in Domaine de Bel Ombre in the southern part of Mauritius

  • Led by a PGA professional, the Golf Academy offers group and individual golf lessons
  • Golfers practise at the 9-hole par 3 course under the guidance of trained instructors. It has a chipping and pitching area, practise putting green and double ended driving range.

14. Shandrani Golf Course

The Shandrani Golf Course is a 9-hole par 29 golf course that is spread out across 768m within the resort premises. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, it is situated along the beach and is a challenging course owing to its small size. It is an ideal choice for beginners and those looking to perfect their game as this golf course warrants playing with calculated precision since one of its tees is about 100m from the hotel reception. 

Location: This golf course is part of the Shandrani Resort in Blue Bay in the south-eastern part of Mauritius

  • There is a Clubhouse with a storeroom where guests can keep their golf equipment.
  • Guests can hire golf clubs and trolleys.

Known for its 2 different tees, varying length elevation and angles, this course guarantees a challenging yet fun game for both amateurs and professional golfers. It is a beautiful course set amidst lush greenery and features many trees scattered all around. 

Timings: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM 
Location: This golf course is situated within the Maritim Resort in Balaclava, Pamplemousses on the north western side of Mauritius.

  • Individual golf lessons, for both beginner and advanced levels, are offered here upon request.
  • There is a practise putting green for those looking to hone their golf skills.
  • There is a Night driving range with floodlights.
  • Golf clubs and balls are available for rent. There is also a Pro shop where one can buy golf equipment or clothing. 
  • Guests at the Maritim Resort do not need to pay the green fee, although they must pay for any equipment rented.
