In light of the present predicament, The Ministry of Tourism has initiated a programme, specifically designed and curated to relieve the caged-in travel enthusiasts and also to keep the ball rolling for travel operators. Dekho Apna Desh is a virtual tour that promotes various destinations throughout the country via webinars. Unlike other virtual tours, it not only gives an insight into the beauty of the land but also provides in-depth knowledge of the destination, geography, rich culture and heritage and its people.
Dekho Apna Desh should not be mistaken for Dekho Mera Desh, which is another webinar released in the month of January 2020, as a token of appreciation to travellers who showed their love for India, by travelling to at least 15 different destinations in a single year.
‘City of cities-Delhi’s Personal Diary’, the first webinar of Dekho Apna Desh, went live on 14th April 2020. It was prepared and presented by India City Walks and had 5546 registered views. The second explored Kolkata, The City of Joy, while the third is all about the beauty of Varanasi or The City of temples.
While the webinars are curated by various tour operators throughout the country, they are hosted and presented to the public by Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism and people can access them via youtube and have a jolly good time.
