Pointe d’Esny, Mauritius Overview
Pointe d'Esny is the strip of shallow, protected lagoon just south of Mahebourg on the south east coast, reached by a footpath off the coastal road rather than a car park. The water is calm and clear, the sand is public, and there are guesthouses instead of large resorts, so it stays quiet even in season. The Blue Bay Marine Park is a few minutes further along the same coast.
Boasting of a long stretch of soft sand and a seabed that isn’t too deep, iit is ideal for snorkelling and swimming. It is also perfect for relaxing by the water, watching boats sail by and catching the sunset. There are, however, no facilities on the beach and visitors would be required to buy snacks beforehand.
