Durbar Marg is a broad, tree-lined boulevard in central Kathmandu that runs toward Narayanhiti Palace Museum, the former royal residence. Built mainly during the Rana era, it is nicknamed King's Way and today houses Nepal's upscale hotels, international restaurants, high-end boutiques, airline offices, and foreign embassies. A statue of King Mahendra marks a roundabout along the avenue. Considered one of the cleanest, best-maintained streets in the Kathmandu Valley, it draws shoppers and diners as a counterpoint to nearby Thamel's backpacker scene.
Durbar Marg (King's Way) is Kathmandu's most upscale commercial avenue, a broad tree-lined boulevard built during the Rana period linking the city centre to the former royal palace, Narayanhiti Palace Museum.
