The Marine Cove is children's favourite playground located in the vicinity of the East Coast Park. It has always been a hotspot for the ones planning to spend their day at the beach or have a cycle ride in the park. It offers different panoramas of the sea, between ships and bites, at a modern glass steel structure. Formerly known as the East Coast Recreation Centre, the Marine Cove got its current name in 2002. The building complex housed a bowling alley, an arcade and eateries with the replica facade of the historic Lido and Odeon Cinemas. It also housed a 24/7 Mc Donalds Outlet, one of the largest in Singapore. This was extremely popular among the park-goers who stopped to snack after cycling and skating. This was the first McDonalds store to have a skate-through facility.
In the year 2012, the Marine Cove was closed for renovation and left people wondering what more could be improved. It was later reopened in the year 2016 with a fresh, contemporary look and enhanced facilities. This was redeveloped keeping convenience and enjoyment in consideration. The Marine Cove is spread across 3,500 square kilometres and is packed with play equipment suitable for all ages. It has swings, an 8 m lighthouse tower with slides and a rope bridge, and also a colourful rock climbing wall. The visitors can get recharged at the diverse variety of dining options at budget-friendly fares. The Marine Cove lets children experience the simple joys of life such as flying kites, building sand castles, cycling and skating.
