Marine Cove Playground, Singapore Overview

The Marine Cove is children's favourite playground located in the vicinity of the East Coast Park. It has always been a hotspot for the ones planning to spend their day at the beach or have a cycle ride in the park. It offers different panoramas of the sea, between ships and bites, at a modern glass steel structure. Formerly known as the East Coast Recreation Centre, the Marine Cove got its current name in 2002. The building complex housed a bowling alley, an arcade and eateries with the replica facade of the historic Lido and Odeon Cinemas. It also housed a 24/7 Mc Donalds Outlet, one of the largest in Singapore. This was extremely popular among the park-goers who stopped to snack after cycling and skating. This was the first McDonalds store to have a skate-through facility.

In the year 2012, the Marine Cove was closed for renovation and left people wondering what more could be improved. It was later reopened in the year 2016 with a fresh, contemporary look and enhanced facilities. This was redeveloped keeping convenience and enjoyment in consideration. The Marine Cove is spread across 3,500 square kilometres and is packed with play equipment suitable for all ages. It has swings, an 8 m lighthouse tower with slides and a rope bridge, and also a colourful rock climbing wall. The visitors can get recharged at the diverse variety of dining options at budget-friendly fares. The Marine Cove lets children experience the simple joys of life such as flying kites, building sand castles, cycling and skating.

More on Marine Cove Playground

Before renovation, the Marine Cove had limited running space for kids. It would be full of merely a dozen kids. But now, with the new 3500 square meters of playground area, the ground will remain spacious even after 200 kids were to occupy it. The main highlight of the playground is the three storey play tower located at the centre of the playground. It is connected to a rope bridge and 3 slides of different levels. Access to the top can also be made via a funnel net in the centre.

The playground is specifically built for children of varying ages up to 12. Easier climbing structures are available for younger kids. The play area has a variety of structures that provide various experiences for the children. With a large expanse of play area towards the open sea, the Marine Cove's playground is a perfect breezy option for families with little kids. The playground is built sensitively with regard to kids of different abilities to play together. It has inclusive equipment like swings with a safety harness, sensory panels that create a sense of discovery, eye-hand coordination, motor skills, rhythm and movement.

The Marine Cove Park has many incredible food outlets in its vicinity. They offer an incredible view and come at the family-friendly budget. One of the most popular ones is the good old McDonalds. Beside the McDonalds restaurant, there is an Indian-Muslim restaurant that serves non-vegetarian, Indian food. There is also a Peranakan restaurant called Babalicious that serves authentic Peranakan food. A popular retro-themed restaurant offers local hawkers favourites. This place also has a kid-friendly restaurant, with an interesting menu.

The Marine Cove Park has paths and areas that are perfect for cycling. In case you don't own a bicycle, there are many shops at the park that offer bike rentals. In case of any problems of mishaps with the bike, the shops offer complete assistance and help you patch a punctured tube.

Get your toddlers early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the afternoon sun.

The Marine Cove Playground is easier to access through the bus, the nearest bus stop being just a minute away. Bus 401 stops here.

The closest MRT is half an hour away from the Kembangan MRT. Alight at Exit A and take a cab to the playground which takes about 10 minutes.
