Wat Yanasangwararam, Pattaya Overview

One of Thailand's most popular and impressive wats, Wat Yanasangwararam is a huge temple complex offering a glance into Thai design and architectural traditions. It is the largest Buddhist temple complex comprising gardens and lakes lined with attractive Chinese pavilions. Most of the buildings here were erected in honor of the Thai Royal family.

The place is an architectural splendor spread across an area of 145 acres adorning buildings of different architectural styles. Also known as Wat Yan locally, the temple's shrine stands tall on the hill reached by a flight of 299 stairs lined with naga snakes. One can see the replica of the Buddha's footprints in modop etched in the ground and much architecture of several countries. Built in a stylish yet modern Thai style, the temple holds a significant position in the area under the patronage of His Majesty The King. One can also enquire about the types of meditation courses available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The temple was established in 1976 to honor the present Supreme Patriarch, Somdet Phra Yanasangwon, and was later dedicated to King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1988.
