An enormous all-teak building on the shore at Naklua, carved entirely with Hindu and Buddhist figures and held together without nails. It has been under construction since 1981 and is still unfinished, which is part of the point.

Is it a working temple?

Not in the conventional sense. The Sanctuary of Truth is a privately built monument and museum rather than an active place of worship, and it charges a substantial entry fee. Wat Phra Yai on the hill is a working temple and free.

What should I wear?

Shoulders and knees covered at both. The Sanctuary of Truth lends wraps at the entrance and issues hard hats, since carving work continues while visitors walk through.

How long does each take?

About ninety minutes at the Sanctuary of Truth including the walk down to the shore, and half an hour at Wat Phra Yai. Both are easy to combine in one morning.
