Durian Perangin Waterfall, Langkawi Overview

Durian Perangin Waterfall is a 14-tier topographical magnificence set in the lap of tropical rainforest in northeast Langkawi. The waterfall descends from the northern slope of the highest mountain on the island – Gunung Raya. The waterfall gets its name from the Durian trees, sprawling in the area, that bear thorny fruits. It is a popular spot for canyoning.

Things to Do at Durian Perangin Waterfall

Hiking
Being a 14-tier waterfall, it offers views from different levels. A 200-meter climb from the entrance takes one to the top section of the waterfall. Along the steps, there several small waterfalls and pools which are different sections of the Durian Perangin Waterfall itself.

Picnic
The locals love arranging picnics in the hut-like structures called gazebos that surround the steps towards the waterfall. The landscaped pool at the grounds of the waterfall is perfect to cool off the heat. 

Canyoning 
The Durian Perangin Waterfall is also a much-loved destination for adrenaline-seekers for it offers amazing canyoning tours. There are professional tourist outfits that offer these guided tours.

Best Time to Visit

The best time that you can visit the Durian Perangin Waterfall is during the monsoon season. September and October are the months when you will find the rock-pool gushing. The waterfall is not a promising destination during the summer season.

How to Reach Durian Perangin Waterfall

The Durian Perangin Waterfall is situated to the north of Kilim village and is a 14 kilometers drive from Kuah town. One can take a cab from the town and reach the waterfall off the Jalan Air Hangat Road.

From the car-park, the waterfall is a 200-meter climb of stairs that are not so steep which takes around 15 minutes.

Make sure to hire the taxi for a round-trip because it might be difficult finding conveyance for the way back from the waterfall.
