Le Morne Beach, Mauritius Overview

Located at the foot of the gigantic Le Morne Brabant mountain in west Mauritius, Le Morne Beach is a public beach in Mauritius. With swaying casuarina trees and powdery white sand, it is one of the most stunning beaches in Mauritius. Along with scuba diving, Le Morne Beach is also one of the best kitesurfing spots in the world. It remains crowded on the weekend. The beach is accessible easily from the coastal road.

Le Morne Beach is popular for watersports like windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddling, and pedalo. Though nudity is prohibited here, topless bathing is allowed. The beach is also ideal for swimming. A little off the coastline of the Le Morne beach stands the Crystal Rock, which is as much a part of the beach as is the Le Morne Brabant Mountain. The Crystal Rock is a small islet of a rocky outcrop, which is very famous for various activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving, and glass-bottom boat rides.

How To Reach Le Morne Beach

Being located in a somewhat isolated part of the entire island, reaching Le Morne beach from Port Louis takes a long while by bus, and requires you to take a detour to Tamarin through bus #119 before you can hop into bus #5 which will drop you off at the entrance of the beach.

However, if you decide to drive down the coastal road southwards, a natural turn to the right after the Case Noyale signboards start to will lead you to a little roundabout which has marked exits to help you land nearest to Le Morne beach comfortably.
