Chan+Hori Contemporary, Singapore Overview

Chan+Hori Contemporary is a gallery situated at Block 6 Lock Road which was opened in 2017 and aims to connect contemporary art forms to everyday life. The Gallery has collaborated with several national and international artists, institutions, art councils, and corporate entities. Through this, the Gallery has been hosting special exhibitions related to socio-economic themes and other cultural discourses.

The mission of the Gallery is to engage the public through diverse and inclusive events which explores artistic expressions and other disciplines. Besides this, Chan+Hori Contemporary Gallery also provides a platform for exclusive artists to build their careers by conducting regular exhibitions, collaborating with institutions and other overseas opportunities. The Gallery has been adding to the culture of contemporary art, regionally as well as internationally.

DISINI Festival

Originating from the Malay adverb 'Di Sini' meaning 'over here', DISINI art festival invites artists, cultural activists, art lovers and the public to a large-scale multidisciplinary art festival which seeks to inspire and kindle. Held with the active support of the National Arts Council (NAC), Chan+Hori collaborates with artists, institutions, art councils and corporate entities to give birth to unconventional exhibitions and mind-blowing events on socio-political themes to initiate contemporary thoughts and opinions. The festival is held in the Gillman Barracks area, and all programs are free unless mentioned.

How to Reach Chan+Hori Contemporary

The nearest MRT Station is Labrador Park (Circle Line station CC27). Once at Labrador Park MRT station, take Exit A and walk around 800 metres on Alexandra Road. Make sure to remain on the opposite side of the road from Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC) Shopping Mall. Gillman Barracks shall be on your right. Upon entering Gillman Barracks, walk straight ahead. Chan+Hori lies immediately to the left of the first road intersection. Additionally, those taking a bus may get down at the bus stop Opposite Alexandra Point (Bus Stop Number 15059). The bus numbers are 51, 57, 61, 83, 97, 97e, 100, 166, 175, 408, 963 or 963E.
