History

The French missionary, Father Terrien was in charge of the Chinese Catholics in the city. In 1903, he purchased a small piece of land to construct the Holy Rosary Church. It took 18 months to construct this beautiful church which is mainly catered to the Chinese Catholics. Major changes took place in the mid-1980s when the Government acquired a small piece of land in front of the church. The Government built a hostel and community hall on the church land that was used for meetings and other such purposes. The church was renovated in 2003 since it marked the 100-year anniversary of the Parish.
