Merdeka 118, Kuala Lumpur Overview
At 678.9 metres to its architectural top, Merdeka 118 is the second-tallest building in the world, behind only the Burj Khalifa. It was completed in November 2023 and officially opened in January 2024, which is why it is missing from most Kuala Lumpur itineraries. The View at 118 sits on levels 116 to 118, with viewing floors at 519 and 566 metres, high enough that the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower read as landmarks below you rather than rivals across the skyline.
The tower stands on Jalan Hang Jebat, on the southern edge of the old city rather than in the KLCC cluster, so the view from the deck takes in both: colonial Kuala Lumpur and the Klang valley in one direction, the twin towers and Bukit Bintang in the other. Reaching the top involves lifts from the base of the tower, and entry is sold for dated, timed slots. Allow ninety minutes for the visit itself. It pairs naturally with Merdeka Square and Chinatown, both of which are within a short drive.
