Delhi to Coorg

Travelling from Coorg to Delhi via Bengaluru involves taking a flight from Delhi to Bengaluru and then continuing onwards by taking a bus or a taxi. There are many direct flights connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) to Kempegowda International Airport (BLR).

Most flights from Delhi to Bengaluru are direct flights. The duration of these flights are typically in the 2 hours 45 mins to 3 hour range. Flights can cost upwards of INR 5000 depending on the availability, time of the week and year.

Transportation from the Airport:

After deboarding at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), one can either take a taxi or a bus to Bengaluru city. Taking one of the coaches which are run by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is recommended as it is considerably cheaper and numerous buses ply from the airport to the city at regular intervals.

Transportation from Bengaluru to Coorg:

After reaching Bengaluru, one can take private taxi, rent their own cars or take a bus to Coorg. 

The distance from Delhi to Coorg by car is 2429 km and can be covered in 39 hours. However, due to the distance, a journey by car is not preferred by people. There is only one route from Delhi to reach Madikeri, i.e. the main town of Coorg.

Route: Via NH 44

You first need to take Dr. NH Hardikar Road to NH 9 and then on to Taj Express Highway, NH 44, Nehru Outer Ring Road, NH 44, and SH 8. Finally, take Guddemane Appaiah Gowda Road to Madikeri Road/ Madikeri-Virajpet Road.

The approximate fuel charge for the journey can be between INR 10,000 to 15,000. The roads in this journey are not in good condition. However, the drive between the two cities will be quite fascinating because some of the major cities falling on your way. Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Anantapur, and Bangalore are some of them. You can stop for a night and some food at any of these cities.

If you are looking for a relatively cheaper option to reach Coorg from Delhi, you can opt for a train journey. However, Coorg does not have a railway station hence you need to board a train from Delhi to one of the closer railway stations to Coorg. You can take a train from Delhi to Mangalore Junction and then continue the journey to Coorg.
