2020 as a year has been a rollercoaster. Hopefully, the year 2021 will bring some relaxation, and with it, some vacation time. Speaking of which, Vietnam is one of the culturally rich countries to visit. Albeit they don’t have a lot of public holidays, the celebrations of their own are magnificent. Here is a list of public holidays in Vietnam in the year 2021.

Things to Do in January 2021

The Vietnamese traditionally celebrate the Lunar New Year in their culture. But you can still have a good western New Year Celebrations in the country, especially since it’s a weekend this year. You can visit the Ba Na Hills for amusement park fun, or visit their temples (known as pagodas) for some peace and tranquility on New Year’s Day. There is also a firework show on New Year’s Eve that will spark the vibes of the evening.

February is a wonderful time to visit Vietnam to witness their culture at its finest. Their New Year (or Tet) celebrations are one of the biggest of the year. You’ll find the city blooming in red and yellow, with people visiting their families and munching on traditional treats. They prepare a five-fruit tray, buy peach and apricot flowers for decorations, and cook traditional cakes like the Bánh chưng and Bánh tét.

Another major festival is the Hùng Kings' Festival. It lasts for four days, where the third day is the most important. On this day, a procession starts at the foot of the mountain and halts at every small temple before reaching the high temple. It is a spectacular time to visit Hanoi since the weather is perfect and the vibes are immaculate.

Things to Do in May 2021

Labour day weekend is perfect to visit Vietnam this year. The cities are usually buzzing at this point, because of the long weekends and increased tourism. You can visit Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park during this time.

July doesn’t invite a lot of festive activities in the country. It is a good time to visit Vietnam to witness their patriotic side while paying tribute on Remembrance day. You can also visit the beaches during this time, like Halong Bay.

You’ll witness flag hosting ceremonies all across the nation. Apart from that, you can visit Mekong Delta, Mu Cang Chai, and Mui Ne for a relaxing vacation.

Things to Do in December 2021

While Christmas is not a public holiday in Vietnam, it is still celebrated with good and merry vibes. It is majorly celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City with decorations, carols, and traditional food.
