Kolkata's Cafe #377 Opened its Doors Last Month, With The Message of Equality and Unity

It was about time that Kolkata opened its first public space for the LGBTQIA+ community to hang and be themselves completely. Kolkata being such a liberal city took some time to open such a space, but it's better late than never! The name Cafe #377 speaks for itself. It celebrates equality, unity, and inclusivity in society.

Cafe #377
It opened its doors last month and the city is elated and how! The Facebook page of Cafe #377 before it commenced said: "A queer café for the fabulous misfits, after all, closets are for clothes, not people, coming real soon! "

The Ideology

Sk Manirul Islam, owner, and CEO at Cafe #377 said: "We were clear about who we are from day one — this space stands for equality, unity, and love. It asks you to be proud of who you are as we've all been made equally by God."
"The idea is to have every space open for everyone. Why should there be exclusive spaces for particular groups of people?" Islam mentions!

Ambience

The cafe is positioned in a frequented lane of South Calcutta. It's interiors clearly reflect its pink theme and its dedication to the Vibgyor of unity and love. The vibe is attractive and lively. They hold ladies Nights, every Wednesday to celebrate the power of women. The cafe serves a special range of mocktails and dishes exclusively for women.
