Do Indians Need a Visa for Bhutan?

  • Road travellers: Get your permit at the Phuentsholing Immigration Office.

The Phuentsholing Immigration Office issues Entry Permits during the following hours:

  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Timings: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Lunch Break: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
  • Closed On: Saturdays, Sundays, and Bhutanese public holidays
Tip: If you arrive on a weekend or public holiday, you'll need to wait until the next working day to obtain your permit.

Phuentsholing is Bhutan's main border town, located just across Jaigaon, West Bengal. It is the primary land entry point for Indian travellers and home to the Regional Immigration Office, where road travellers collect their Entry Permit before continuing to destinations like Thimphu and Paro.
