Ferries to Kho Samui generally operate from Surat Thani or Donsak Pier where multiple service providers are there. Depending on your budget choose a ferry service provider at your leisure. Ferries usually leave and arrive on time and the ferries take around 2-3 hours one way. Donsak Pier is closer to Koh Samui and cheaper and the ferries take around 1.5 hours one way.

Local transport in Koh Samui

Koh Samui doesn't have a very well-developed public transportation system, so motorbikes and cars on rent are the preferred option for tourists. It costs around TBH 150-200 to rent a motorbike or TBH 600-800 for a jeep per day. You can also get around the island in a yellow and red taxi or songthaews which are open shared taxis.
