Best Time To Visit Janakpur

December to February stays dry, and it is cooler than most people expect on the Terai. January averages under twenty-two degrees by day.

Do not treat it as a warm-weather escape. Mornings are foggy on the plain and the nights are cold, so pack for both ends of the day.

March is dry and warms up quickly, and it is the last month before the pre-monsoon heat sets in properly.

Early March is the better half. By April the plain is heading for the mid thirties.

April is the hottest month by daytime maximum, at about thirty-five degrees, and May and June are barely behind it.

June is the hottest by daily average. The rain has not arrived to break it yet, which makes this the weakest stretch of the year for a town you walk around.

Vivaha Panchami is the town's own great occasion, re-enacting the wedding of Ram and Sita at Janakpurdham with a procession and thousands of pilgrims from India. It falls in November or December and the date moves each year, so confirm it before booking. Bhaktapur holds its own festival calendar up in the valley.
