Plaza Senayan is one of the primary shopping malls located in the Semanggi area of Central Jakarta. It is frequented by middle and upper class people in the neighborhood who buy apparels, handicrafts, home furnishings as well as other things of necessity and leisure. People looking to do grocery shopping are not disappointed on entering Plaza Senayan as the mall has two huge departmental stores that are interconnected together. The Metro store is currently being renovated but it is possible to visit Sogo at the northern end of the mall in order to buy the essentials. Most of the Fashion & Accessories stores are located on the first two levels with Level 3 housing CottonInk, known for women’s apparel and the unisex store Converse.

There are a few more stores open at this level too but the ones looking to buy classic jewellery do not fail to enter Tiffany & Co on Level 1. Swarovski crystals and watches are on offer at their eponymous store on Level 3 as well with home décor being limited to Level 2 and houseware available in a single store at the lower ground floor level. There are numerous stores offering beauty products and health care items along with trendy eyeglasses. It is the electronics and accessories that attract the young generation to Bose, Leica, Samsung and C-Palm within Plaza Senayan.

Plaza Senayan Cinema

Cinema XXI on Level 4 of Plaza Senayan mall provides a wonderful film viewing experience for the visitors who can watch the recent releases at any of the two premiere theatres or opt for 8 other screens. Equipped with Dolby, THX and superior stereo system, the totally digitized experience has many takers with the neighbourhood residence choosing this particular venue for watching movies.

Tickets are priced at IDR 100 on weekdays with IDR 150 charged on Fridays. However, the rates go up on Saturday, Sunday and National Holidays with each ticket being offered for IDR 250. Refreshments are served at the XXI Lounge.

The expansive food court at the 2nd level of Plaza Senayan offers quick eats as well as a number of beverages for the thirsty visitors who stop here to earn a respite after shopping. The Cold Stone Creamery is the main attraction for kids as the ice cream served here have been declared to be totally out of this world. There is a KFC and Pizza Milano outlet for young adults as well with every other cuisine of the world including the local dishes being offered at the numerous counters in the court.

There are 43 standalone restaurants and cafes including the ubiquitous Starbuck at the mall too. Visitors need not head up to Level 2 for a bite every time either. The restaurants are located at every floor with the Asian Specialty restaurants found at the lower ground floor.

Plaza Senayan X2 Club

Apart from the cinema, visitors looking for entertainment can head to X2 Club spread over the two floors at the mall. It has a strict dressing code though with all the women required to be in heels. It is a favorite haunt of the local population as well as the expats looking for a glamorous night spot. Most of the visitors move towards the dance floor with others choosing to listen to the peppy music being played on tracks and relaxing in the lounge Families choose to drop their children at the Plaza Senayan Playground on Level 3 where they get to enjoy fun activities under adult supervision.

How to Reach Plaza Senayan

Plaza Senayan is situated within the Semanggi area that is easily accessible from all parts of Jakarta. People residing in Semanggi can walk to the shopping mall easily. However, the ones hoping to take public transport from other parts of the city can avail of the buses AC05B, AC05T, P102, and S615. Commuters may also take the Green line train and alight at the Plaza Senayan station. Tourists often hire a taxi from the Jakarta Soekarno- Hatta International Airport that is only minutes away by paying a fare of IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000.

1. It is best not to carry wads of cash while entering the mall. International credit cards are accepted at the stores inside
2. Asking for mineral water at the restaurants and buying a bottle or two at the food court is recommended 3. Wearing appropriate but loose clothing is advisable
4. It is necessary to check the signs before smoking as the use of tobacco are sure to be prohibited in most parts of the mall
