April to October is dry, mild and sunny, and it is the whole answer for Brisbane. Days run from the mid-twenties in April down to about 21°C in July and back up by October.

September is the driest month of the entire year. This is when the outdoor city works: South Bank, the Story Bridge climb, Mount Coot-tha and the river ferries all at their best, with low humidity.

Winter in Brisbane: June to August

July is the coolest month at about 16°C mean, with days around 21°C and nights near 10°C. It never freezes and it barely rains.

Do not read winter as cold here. These are the clearest, driest, most comfortable months of the Brisbane year, and hotel rates are moderate because Australians go north for the sun rather than stopping in Brisbane. The Ekka, Queensland's biggest annual show, is in August.

Spring in Brisbane: September to November
