Helix Bridge is a futuristic pedestrian bridge in Marina Bay, famous for its unique DNA-inspired design and illuminated night views of the Singapore skyline. Connecting Marina Centre with Marina South, the bridge offers scenic waterfront walks and photography spots overlooking Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the city skyline. It is especially popular in the evening when the bridge lights are turned on.
The design of this beautiful piece of architecture is built upon the double helix structure modelled on the structure of the DNA because of which it was also previously called the "Double Helix Bridge". Made of a special duplex stainless steel, this 280-metre long bridge has the ability to support up to 16000 people at once. The magnificent bridge is about three storeys tall, with 2250 metre-long steel tubes which make up its structure.
Situated near the Benjamin Shares Bridge, the Helix forms a curve near the Youth Olympic Park, Gardens by the Bay, and the Bayfront Bridge and is encompassed by attractions like the Esplanade Theatre and the Singapore Flyer on one side, and the ArtScience Museum and the grand Marina Bay Sands Resort across the bridge.
