Best Time To Visit Petaling Jaya

August and September see the rain climbing back as the second inter-monsoon approaches, with storms getting heavier through September.

The pattern stays predictable. Mornings are usually clear, so anything outdoors belongs before lunch in these months.

November is the wettest month of the year and October is close behind. These are the two months to avoid if any part of the trip is outdoors.

They are wet nationwide, from George Town to Kota Kinabalu and the Cameron Highlands, so moving within Malaysia does not help. For fixed dates, Hua Hin in Thailand stays dry through November.

December is past the November peak and improving, though still wet. The year-end holidays fill the malls and the hotels.

January is drier and quieter, and it opens the second-best window of the year.

February and March sit in the trough between the two rain peaks. February is the better of the pair, with March already picking up as April approaches.

February carries Thaipusam, which fills Batu Caves just north of the city. In 2026 it falls on 1 February.

April is the second-wettest month of the year, only just behind November. Late-afternoon thunderstorms are close to daily.

May eases a little as the peak passes. Both months still work if you treat the afternoons as indoor time, or head up to Genting Highlands for the day.

Petaling Jaya has no dry season, and its wettest month takes less than three times its driest. Rain here is a constant rather than a season.

That suits what the city is for. The malls, the restaurants and the business districts all work in any month, so choose your dates on price and on the Kuala Lumpur event calendar rather than the forecast.
