Cross The Suspension Bridge At Bukit Gasing

Bukit Gasing is a forest reserve straddling the boundary between Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur, with marked trails climbing through secondary jungle to a ridge and a suspension bridge over the valley. The loop takes an hour or two depending on which entrance you start from. It is the only entry on this list where you will need proper shoes, and the one worth doing early before the heat.

Buddhist Temple

Wat Chetawan is a Thai Buddhist temple in Petaling Jaya, built through the late 1950s and early 1960s for the area's Thai community. The main hall follows classic Thai temple architecture, with a steeply tiered roof, gilded gables and guardian figures flanking the steps, which makes it an unusual sight in a Malaysian suburb. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times, and modest dress is expected.

Kota Darul Ehsan is a ceremonial archway marking the boundary between Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, raised in 1974 after the capital was ceded to federal control. Two tiered pavilion-style towers flank the road and are lit after dark. The Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque is Selangor's state mosque, in Shah Alam rather than Petaling Jaya itself, and everyone calls it the Blue Mosque for the blue and silver dome you can see from the highway. Four minarets stand at the corners, among the tallest anywhere. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times and robes are lent at the entrance.

SS2 is a square of shophouses given over almost entirely to eating: Chinese coffee shops, claypot rice, banana leaf, and a row of dessert stalls that stay open late. Muzium Coklat, better known as the Chocolate Museum, sits alongside a working chocolate factory in Petaling Jaya.
