Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu Overview

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is a famous natural wildlife park located near the Penampang-Papar old road, Kota Kinabalu. The park is divided into two sections – zoological and botanical and houses many species of flora and fauna.

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is developed and maintained by the Sabah Wildlife Development and is famous for its family-oriented atmosphere and has a special children’s zoo. The zoological part of Lok Kawi  houses many animals while the botanical part of the wildlife park offers an opportunity for a nature hike and also a chance to witness various different types of flowers and trees along with insects, some of them indigenous to Malaysia.

How to Reach Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is a 30 minutes drive away from Kota Kinabalu. The distance is around 20 kms. One can drive a rented car or take a cab to reach there. There are also many buses that go to the town of Lok Kawi, however, not all of them go all the way to the Wildlife Park.

On Sundays, there are special buses available which commute especially to and from the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. However, their availability is quite questionable and the best way to reach the wildlife park is via a cab, which one should book for return journey as well, to be safe as conveyance can get scarce there. The taxi/ cab can cost RM 10 per person on an average.
