Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, Hong Kong Overview

Ngong Ping is Hong Kong's top tourist attraction. The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car gives some of the best panoramic views of Lantau island, and the Ngong Ping Village is a commercial and entertainment centre.

Ngong Ping 360 was conceptualised when the government felt that more can be done to improve the tourism in the city of Hong Kong. It officially opened on 9th November 2006, after a series of trial runs and safety tests. The cable car is 5.7 km long, and connects Tung Chung with the Ngong Ping. It is the most popular way to access the Big Buddha statue and the Po Lin Monastery, offering some fantastic views over the island of Lantau. The Pgong Village was built next to the terminal of the cable car, and houses several stores and eateries. It is dotted with many attractions, and also a cable car gallery housing replicas of cable cars from popular systems in the world.
