Just 2 km away from the tourist hub Colva of South Goa lies the serene Benaulim beach. With its long stretch of empty sands dotted with inviting beach chairs, this scenic beach is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation in the tourist trap of Goa. One can marvel at the divine architecture of the temples and ancient churches, as well as the Portuguese style of architecture seen in the houses of Benaulim.
Along with soaking up the sun while lazing on a beach chair at the beach, tourists can also engage in watersports such as jet skiing, snorkelling, parasailing, and windsurfing. Being a relatively quieter beach as compared to the party beaches found further north, this beach is a better option for those wishing to go dolphin spotting. Fishing is a principal occupation for the locals here, and one can enjoy the aroma and taste of fresh seafood at the shacks and restaurants in the area. Bullfighting is a popular event that occurs in the rice fields here, complemented with local Konkani music. Beach Bonanza fairs are held every Sunday from April onwards, a delightful affair that sees the lively participation of the locals in activities like live music and dance, displaying the original spirit of Goa.
