Cola Beach, Goa Overview

Cola beach, also known as 'Khola' beach, is one of the rare beaches of Goa that offers travellers the most tranquil of surroundings, with a location hidden from the mainstream view, showcasing the natural beauty of Goa at its finest. Unspoilt, clean and quiet, this beach hosts a hidden gem of a surreal and pure blue lagoon, created by the flowing of the river into the Arabian Sea, separated by a narrow strip of glimmering sand Fringed by swaying coconut palm trees, one can't help but get lost in the mesmerising blue waves of the Arabian Sea as they meet the shores of golden sands.

The beach does not receive many visitors as it is off the beaten path, hidden by thickly overgrown hills, with a decent stretch of a rather rocky terrain to be crossed before arriving at this natural paradise. This makes the beach perfect for sunbathers, enjoying their own private bay with breathtaking views in every angle. This scenic beach lies 4 km north of the tourist hub Agonda beach. One is treated to a rare sight of the natural fauna like dolphins, monkeys and sea eagles enjoying the beach and the serene vibe of the area unlike any other beach of Goa.

More on Cola Beach

The best time to visit this beach is between October and March, as this is the ideal climate to enjoy the being by the beach.

There aren't many accommodation options around the beach, as it is largely uninhabited and not a major tourist spot. However, the Blue Lagoon Resort, the Cola Beach Resort and the Dwarka Goa offer travellers accommodation options such as tents, wooden cottages and bungalows. The nearby Agonda beach has a whole range of accommodation options for visitors with varying budgets and preferences.

There aren't any shacks on Cola beach as is common on most beaches of Goa. However, the beach side resorts have dining options available for their guests. The Casa Diya restaurant offers simple yet tasty food for those looking to dine by the serene beach.

Lodging options at the beach may be fewer or unavailable between April and September.

There is no public transport that leads directly to the beach. One will have to hire a private taxi from the Dabolim airport (60 km away) or the Canacona Railway station (12 km) to reach this beach. It is advisable to hire a taxi over renting a vehicle, as the roads are quite rough and the path can be confusing to those unfamiliar with the area.

If you are attempting to reach Cola beach through a rented vehicle, travel on the MDR49 towards Agonda, and take a right after the Parvem bus stop. An easier route can be found on NH66, which is longer but has a sign that points in the general direction of Cola beach as one travels from the north to the south of Goa. Keep following that road until you reach the beach.
