What is the best time to visit Amarnath?

Amarnath Yatra is expected to start on 28 June 2021 and end on 22 August 2021. However, in view of the covid-19 situation in India, the registration for Amarnath Yatra 2021 is temporarily suspended. Also, no person below the age of 13 years and above 75 years and a women with more than six weeks' pregnancy will be permitted to undertake the Amarnath Yatra in 2021.

Amarnath Cave and Temple is not accessible to tourists for the most part of the year. The Amarnath Yatra is for a specific period and is announced each year. It usually begins on the auspicious day of Skandshasthi (as per the Hindu calendar) in July and ends of Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan) in August. So, the best time to visit Amarnath is July-August.

Pilgrims from all over the country visit it in huge numbers to attend this. Remember to wear comfortable woollen clothes while you trek to Amarnath. Trekking becomes difficult during this time as the mountains surrounding the cave are covered in snow completely. Also, unseasonal blizzards in late August has previously caused damage to the lives of many tourists. Travelling to Amarnath requires you to carry a lot of protection gears, so go with full preparation.
