Srinagar in Monsoon (July - September)

Not much rainfall is seen during the monsoon season in Srinagar, but the season of autumn (which takes place approximately between September and October) transforms this place into a beautiful landscape. The trees look spectacular with their golden leaves, and it seems as if the entire city has turned into an idyllic garden. Although the weather can tend to be wintry, it is still quite comfortable for people to roam about and discover the city. Especially when you are taking a Shikara trip across the Dal Lake, the cooling winds that caress you are a sensation like none other. Autumn /Monsoon is an ideal time to visit the city. While the weather can become frosty, it is nowhere near the minimum temperature of the winter months. On the other hand, the heat never rises to the extent that it does during summer. Summers in the valley, which comes along between April and September, can be slightly sweltering. As and when the maximum temperature reaches 30 degrees Celsius, it can get quite disagreeable. The weather might be just right for you to have a heavenly vacation, or it could become so scorching that you don?t want to leave the comfort of your hotel room. Nevertheless, one of Srinagar?s most beloved festivals takes place during the summer season. Baisakhi is celebrated every year in April, and it is a celebration to behold. While it is a Sikh festival (marking the start of the Sikh new year), in Srinagar it is celebrated by one and all. The epicentre of the jubilation is a place called Badamwari. Surrounded by almond blossoms, this location is ideal for the auspicious inauguration of the New Year. While the weather could be unexpected, you wouldn't want to miss the Baisakhi festivities.
