Cambodian Living Arts History & Significance

Cambodian Living Arts were established in 1998 by a Cambodian Arn Chorn Pond, a musician and a Khmer Rouge genocide survivor. After mass killings of civilians, the country's art was in grave danger, which Arn Chorn realized, and founded this institute with no support to focus on endangered art forms of Cambodia. It was only after a decade that the full-fledged centre was born, after gaining support from multiple local and international non-profit organizations.

Cambodian Living Arts Dance Shows

A theatre in the institute is open to the public,  where the students perform entertaining dance shows involving brilliant storytelling combining arts, music and dance. This show is quite popular among the tourists who are interested in getting to know about Cambodian culture and heritage. Dance shows are available in Khmer and English.

There are periodic Living Arts Tours called Pinpeat ensemble class, where tourists can learn to play traditional musical instruments that were used in the royal courts of Angkor kingdom. Also, they will get an introduction to dance forms, different ceremonies and masked plays in this tour. All the tickets can be bought online on their website or directly walking into the Arts centre.
