Museum of Sex, New York City Overview

Within a small walking distance from the Madison Square Park, the Museum of Sex or MoSex of Manhattan was established in 5th October 2002 to chronicle the evolution of the human sexuality. It is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 PM till 9 PM, on Friday from 2 PM till 10:40 PM, on Saturday from 12 noon till 10:40 PM and on Sunday from 12 noon till 10 PM. The exhibits are changed regularly and deal with everything from abortion, erotic carnival, origin of pornographic film and more.

Visitors above eighteen are allowed in the museum and the ticket costs USD 18 for general visit while specific events cost additionally. The photographs, artifacts and print media include anti-onanism devices, photographs of Bud Counts, Double Exposure etc. The research library maintains the collection of books having historical significance, Sexology texts, published fiction and modern art. Representing the evolution, history and human sexual culture, the media library comprises extensive DVD, VHS, BETA, Super 8mm, 8mm and 16mm media collection showcasing film technology from mid-1800s, modern pornography, sexual imagery from films etc. Over 15,000 permanent artifact collections includes historical ephemera, technological inventions, photography, art, costumes and clothing, as well as imported artifacts to complement existing sex accessories, magazines and Shunga prints.
