Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) Museum, New York City Overview

The museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology displays collections of clothing, textiles, and accessories. It is located on 7th Avenue at 27 Street in New York City. It is well known for its collection of contemporary avant-garde fashion.

The Museum’s permanent collection has more than 50,000 garments and accessories, some of which date back to the 18th century. There are also pieces from high-end designers such as Balenciaga, Chanel, and Dior. There are three galleries in the Museum. The lower level gallery is devoted to special exhibitions. The Fashion and Textile History Gallery displays over 200 pieces of historical significance. The Gallery FIT shows student and faculty exhibitions.
