Old Protestant Cemetery, Macau Overview

The British East India Company constructed the Old Protestant Cemetery in San Antonio, Macau. A new history of Macau lies amidst those tombstones. An interesting fact about the cemetery is that no Portuguese or Chinese names will be visible as all the buried are nationals of Britain, central states of America, The Netherlands, Sweden and Germany.

It was built because of the disagreement by both the Portuguese and Chinese regarding the burial of Non- Catholics. Several interesting names can be detected if one goes snooping around the cemetery. Relatives of U.S presidents, members of influential families and other famous personas lie under those tombstones. Beside the graveyard is the Morrison Chapel.
