Lou Kau Mansion, Macau Overview

This historical mansion was home to a Chinese merchant, Lou Kau. Located in Travessa da Sé, this mansion is described as having "great architectural, artistic value". The house, constructed in classic Xiguan style showcases an amalgamation of the Portuguese and Chinese architecture. It is also used as a venue for small concerts by The Macau Chinese Orchestra.

The 2- storey building features three courtyards. The Entrance Hall, Tea Hall and Senior Hall are all separated by screens, exhibiting the hierarchical structure of the Chinese. The flower and bird motif on the roof is similar to the ones in the Mandarin House and A-ma Temple. The Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, another historical spot was also built as part of the residence.
