- Given the altitude, altitude sickness is common among the travelers and thus you should carry proper medication with you. Also,Carrying chocolates everywhere you go is a good idea in Leh. They quickly give you the energy when you tend to be tired due to the low oxygen level so high up in the mountains!

Questions about Leh Ladakh

By Rahul Mesira

Is it possible to visit ladakh with in the cost of 15k from Chennai?

Since Chennai is quite far from Ladakh it would be a little difficult to manage your stay within 15k. However, you can find cheap travel options from Chennai and try to complete your trip within your budget.

Is it safe to take parents who are 65yrs age for ladakh trip. Directly via flight to leh.

It is not very advisable to take them to Ladakh as many people suffer from breathing problems there because of the altitude.

I need suggestions or recommendations on doing a road trip from Coimbatore to ladakh

The distance between Coimbatore and Ladakh is 3,732 which takes 2 days and 9 hours to cover. You can enjoy the trip with your friends and family. It is advisable to make several stop overs on the route because of the long distance.

How is the weather in leh in August? Is is warm or cold or too cold? And considering this what kind of clothes should one carry?

Hi, In August, the min temp is around 4'C and maximum is around 25'C. Also it can snow pretty much anytime so it is better to be prepared. The roads are in good condition and August is considered the best time to visit.

I am planning a trip to Ladakh with my friends on motorcyles. What kind of expenditures should we expect?

Assuming your bike gives you about 25-30kmpl, it would cost you around 8000-9000 for the fuel. Apart from that, the food and accomodations would cost you an additional 500-700 per day, which comes around to 7-10k per person. So the trip can cost you anywhere between 15-20k. Also, I am assuming that you will be covering Manali as well (obviously), which means the trip will take you at least 2 weeks.

How is Ladakh during winters? Is it recommended?

This blog will answer all your questions: http://www.holidify.com/blog/visit-ladakh-in-winters/

Leh is a little tough in winters. The Zozi La and Rohtang La passes that connect Leh are closed during the winters. But flights continue to operate, so you can give it a shot...
