Manali Reviews

Thank you for this informative article, These are the many places for a trip in this summer vacations, but Manali is my choice to travel because of many places like Manali Mall Road, Gulaba Marhi, Kothi Gorge, Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass. Last vacations, I went Manali with family and we enjoyed a lot and do so much fun. We book a Tempo Traveller for a journey from the transport agency in Delhi, they provide excellent services and facilities. "Link Hidden"

Manali, as they call it the honeymoon capital of India, is a beautiful destination in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Be it backpackers, college friends, couples or families, Manali has the right mix for everyone. A 12-hrs bus journey(or self-drive) from New Delhi (the capital city of India) will take you to Manali. You could be spoilt for choices for accommodations-budget hotels, hostels, homestays, luxury resorts. But do remember to book in advance. Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley are the two must-visit attractions in Manali. You can try different activities like paragliding, skiing, ATVs etc at these two places. Also, given that you visit during winters(late Nov-Feb), you certainly experience snowfall.

Awesome place in the lap of the nature. Really a wonderful experience in the snow covered mountain ranges. But expenses are little high. Every where sounds of the bargaining can be heard clearly. This is really an exotic destination

- Manali, even though crowded at times is a must visit place for someone who hasn't seen snow before in life. Manali during Dec-feb is amazing with frequent snowfalls and less crowd. Solang valley and Rohtang Pass (if open) are must visit. If you are more of a hippy sort, visit Old Manali for cafes and cheaper stays.

Manali is one of the best places to visit during this summer season. The best thing about Manali is that it is surrounded by cool mountains and amazing greenery. Not only Manali but one can enjoy places near Manali such as Kasol, Kullu, Bhuntar, Solang Valley, Rohtang pass and much more. We stayed at a hotel in Manali in April 2018 and we really enjoyed our stay. We hired a taxi from Chandigarh to Manali from City Taxi Service and the entire journey was awesome. When we reached Manali we were surprised by its beauty. We really loved this place.

Rohtang Pass is covered with snow throughout the year and is a good experience in itself. This is the ideal place for tourists looking to unwind and rejuvenate in the lap of nature, for there is no place in the country more vibrant and charming as Manali. This town also has a multitude of options for tourists looking for adventurous activities like trekking, paragliding, skiing, zorbing, white water rafting etc. Besides adventurous activities, Manali also has a lot of temples which all tourists and devotees love to visit including the Raghunath temple and Jagannathi Devith Temple being one of the important ones. Hadimba Temple, a 14th-century temple is famous for its wooden architecture and for its religious values. Manali is also used as the base town for the Manali-Leh highway and Leh is around 479 km from here. Lahaul and Spiti district can also be accessed from here during the summers using the same highway.

Manali is one of the famous and best-visited towns in the picturesque state of Himachal Pradesh. Set amidst the snowy mountains and with the flowing Beas river, Manali has been my go-to family destination for vacations. Winters are the best time to visit as you can enjoy skiing and playing in the Solang valley. Though the weather is quite chilly in the months of December-February, you?ll nevertheless love the place. Since I love snow and white flaky mountains, I love visiting the place in December and I had been fortunate to spend my Christmas the last year in snow! The weather can be a bit harsh so carrying extra woollen and warm clothes is always a safe option. Not just the snow and sports, Manali is also famous for its beautiful Jana falls and Hadimba temple. My favourite part about the trip was the authentic yummy hilly food. Red rice, dim sums and rainbow softy ice-creams are what I loved the most. You can also visit the famous Nagar Fort if you enjoy historical places and have an eye for ancient structures and details. You can do paragliding up in the hills and have a bird eye's view of the beautiful tourist town or do rope sailing near the waterfalls. The old Manali is very different and has a Goa or Kasol's hippy vibe with cute little cafes and graffiti streets. Manali's mall road is as exciting as the tourist who visit. The mall road is a must visit for all shopaholics who love knitted, colourful fur coats, hats and gloves. The Tibetan market can be spotted in the basement and is filled with cute warm clothes and accessories that you would love to look at if not buy.

Apart from the places that are considered "must-visits" (Hadimba temple, Rohtang pass, solang valley, etc) in Manali, there are numberless places, in and around Manali, that give you the real experience of the place. You can take any diversion from the national highway and you are sure to reach a breathtaking place. One such diversion leads to Jana, a place known for its beautiful waterfall. It has small food stalls that serve the most delicious authentic Himachali food. You can also go to places like Kasol, Malana, Kheerganga- all of which are very close to Manali to experience life in the mountains. If you go to Manali, make sure to go to Old Manali, which many tourists often ignore. The place has a Goa-vibe with endless rave parties that last all night and also some really good places to eat Himachali food. Of course, Manali is a really good place to go for adventure activities like rafting, paragliding, skiing, etc. However, the safety of these activities cannot be trusted.

While in Manali, trek through and paraglide over its valleys and snow-clad landscapes, visit the lakes and rivers with chilled and pristine running water, walk through fascinating temples and a dash of old world charm. And that still, would just be the beginning. After a 3-day stay in Manali, one can head to the sister town of Kullu, both almost always covered in the same trip, or other nearby towns like Manikaran, Naggar or Kasol.

Manali is like the go-to spot if you're into mountains and nature. I went there in the month of October last year and the weather seemed to be perfect. I love winters and the cold weather so it was great for me. I went with my family and a bunch of our family friends in a traveller bus. The journey was quite hectic and uncomfortable since many of us got altitude sickness and we had to stop quite a lot on the way. But after reaching the destination, we had a great view of the mountains and really good food along with warm cups of tea which made all the difference! There are many sporty activities like para gliding to do there as well so you'll definitely be entertained. If you're undecided on where to go in your vacations, are looking for a hilly area to visit for cheap and can deal with the twisty roads of the mountains, Manali could be the place to be!

One of my best trips happened a few years back. We were 5 friends on a trip to Manali and we wanted to see Solang Valley. That day, there was a snow storm and most of the taxis refused to go till Solang Valley. So we rented some ATV (all terrain vehicles) and went to solang valley. It was really beautiful, completely covered in snow. We did skiing and paragliding over there and it was a lot of fun. Solang Valley is Highly recommend

On your way back from Solang Valley or Rohtang pass, spend a relaxing evening at the Van Vihar on Mall road, boating in a pond, amongst tall Deodar trees. End your day with a visit to the Mall Road and the local markets and shops.

The 14 kilometre drive from Manali to Solang was totally worth it when I reached the start point of the ropeway that takes one up in Solang Valley. It just got better with every passing minute. As I the cable car started up the hill, I saw views that I won?t ever forget. It was almost as though I entered a postcard. Upon reaching the top, I encountered breathtaking views like never before. The snow top peaks majestically soared and the alpine slopes covered with confers together made it magical. One feels like they?re in wonderland.

I had visited Rohtang Pass when I went for a trip to Himachal Pradesh with my family. It was a two hour drive from Manali. One can actually feel the dip in the temperature as one ascends high up the altitude. It was very windy at one particular level making it super chilly, but as we moved upwards, it was less windy and the weather became more bearable. This was the only place which was snow covered among all the places in HP that we visited, and so was my favourite! We spent a few hours here enjoying in the snow. We carried our breakfast as high up only tea and Maggi stalls are available. It is not necessary to rent garments and snow boots as we easily managed in our own woollens.

Are there any good river side cafes in old Manali? (except cafe 1947)

Due to heavy snow everything's closed

Manali is pretty cold this time of the year. Old Manali will be closed, but if you want to do a general trip there with some sightseeing and chilling out, Manali isn't going to be so difficult. The minimum right now is about -3 degrees. There's good chance of witnessing snowfall.

Is it safe to visit Manali during the monsoons? I have heard there are landslides.

It is best to avoid Manali during monsoons with news of landslides, and debris hitting the Chandigarh Manali highway. For the sake of safe passage and a stress-free journey, its best to avoid the months of June to September here.

Drifter's Cafe in Old Manali serves Yak Cheese. It has a heavy quality, owing to the thickness of the Yak's milk. You'll often find it served with wine, which agrees with your palate. No harm in trying :)

I am planning for manali by road from aurangabad, so would you please guide me about road

Your journey will be through parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Delhi, followed by Punjab and then Himachal. Roads are fairly good and travelled in, so no issues there. There are many good cities and towns in between, so eating and stopovers will not be a problem. Make sure you take adequate stops, and have someone split the ride. Have fun!

Hi, I am going to Manali & Macon 3rd sept. Any input about weather, cloths to carry. How to travel as I have my own Car.

Till mid-sept Manali sees it's monsoons. The temperatures stay between 10-20 degrees usually but the problem arises due to landslides in this season. I would advise you to wait it out till the end of the month because that's when the winter starts and it's a wonderful time to visit. Anyway, if you're going in September, you should pack some sweaters and windcheaters, and also raincoats and boots to tackle the monsoon.
