Day Trip to Hateruma Island, Ishigaki Island Overview
The southernmost inhabited island in Japan, with a monument marking the point and Nishihama, which is the best beach in the Yaeyamas by some distance. The skies here are famously dark. One caution before building a day around it: the fast ferry is small and cancels often in rough seas, so it is not a same-day certainty and you should keep the following day free.
