Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat, Chiang Mai Overview

Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat is a Buddhist temple located on Rachadamnoen Road, which is about 150 km east of Chiang Mai and 180 km south of Chiang Rai. If you are looking to visit a unique place in Thailand, then this temple is a must-visit. The site is known for the white floating pagodas yet is one of the underrated places in Thailand. This place is agreeably one of the most stunning places where pagodas are dotting the mountain top, and the mist covers the surroundings.

These pagodas do not have a history of construction like other pagodas. It was built by a well-loved monk who lived in the place nearby. The pagodas were carried up the mountain piece by piece by this monk and fifty other workers over a decade ago. Thus, the amount of love, sweat, and dedication to create this artwork is fairly visible when you visit Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat.

Things to Do At the Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat

1. Forrest - You can sip a cup of coffee at this famous place called ‘Forrest.’ The location of this coffee shop adds to the beauty of the trip and should not be missed when visiting Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat.
2. Vibrant Flower Forest - You can also visit the Vibrant Flower Forest, which is owned by the popular Phayao Resort. Explore the beauty of this place and take pictures among the pretty flowers. The owners are quite friendly and do not mind this.
3. Hot Spring Park- Lastly, you cannot miss visiting the Hot Spring Park.
Entry fee: THB 200 (INR 440) for foreigners. However, the visit will be worth the money. You will find a bunch of hot springs where you can soak in your foot and relax for a while.

Tips

Make sure that you read the signboards while commuting to the pagodas.
Some of them may ask you to remove your footwear, which needs to be respected.
Besides this, you can reach this place early morning without worrying about your breakfast as there are several shops at the bottom of the pagoda where you can grab an early breakfast.

How To Reach Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat

The accessibility to this place is quite hard; hence, people usually do not prefer to visit this place. However, a car drive from Chiang Mai will take around two and a half-hour ride, which will cost around THB 1000 (INR 2200). The other option is to ride a bike which will take more time than the car drive.
