The Preferred Mode of Transportation from the Railway Station

1. The distance between the Kayamkulam Junction and Alleppey is 47 kilometres. Prepaid taxis and autos are available at the station, and most travellers book a cab to reach their final destination in Alleppey. Alternatively, you can board another train that will take you to the Alleppey Junction (ALLP) itself. IRCTC operates 27 direct trains on this route, and you will be able to reach your destination in about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the train that you choose. 

2.  On the other hand, Alleppey is a good 60 kilometres away from Ernakulam Junction. You can board any of the 33 trains that IRCTC operates on this route, or again you have the option of booking a cab to reach your final destination straightaway.

Hyderabad to Alleppey via road is approximately a 21-hour drive covering 1100 kilometres. For those who do not wish to drive this a long distance on their own, you can book a cab to drop you till Alleppey. It may be quite challenging to find a taxi for such a long distance, but service providers such as Ola Outstation do offer services on this route. Nithya Cabs, Sai Cabs, White Cabs, etc. are some popular local cab operators that you can book for the same. It is highly recommended to stopover for a night stay as the drive would be a tediously long one. 

Route from Hyderabad to Alleppey

The most common course that travellers on this route take is Hyderabad-Bangalore-Coimbatore-Kochi-Alleppey. 
This route will take you from Hyderabad to Bangalore via Ananthpur, following which you will reach Coimbatore. From here, Alleppey is a five-hour drive. 

Road Conditions

The route from Hyderabad to Alleppey cannot be generalized either as a smooth or a bumpy one. Travelling from Hyderabad to Alleppey via roads, you will encounter a variety of road conditions, and pass through both: scenic stretches as well as jam-packed roads and lots of toll booths. The routes from Bangalore to Coimbatore are exceptionally spectacular, and the road snakes around the mountains, but from Kochi onwards, you will have to brave through traffic and average road conditions. Kochi to Alleppey is only a two-lane highway, and rash driving in the form of drivers eager to overtake is typical, so ensure that you drive carefully.

Getting to Alleppey from Kochi

The distance between Cochin International Airport and Alleppey is around 80 kilometres, and it takes roughly 2 hours or so to travel to Alleppey from the airport. There are different modes of transportation that you can choose from to reach your final destination. 

1. Buses
KSRTC and KURTC operate direct buses on this route, that leaves for Alleppey from the airport itself. There are a total of ten buses on this route, with the first bus leaving for Alleppey at 08:50. The next two buses leave at 09:10 and 09:15. After which, two other buses depart at 10:30 and then at 10:40. Three-afternoon buses depart at 15:50, 16:10 and 16:20 from the airport as well. You will easily be able to find these buses in the bus stop area, which is right in front of the airport. 

2. Taxi
Alternatively, you can book a cab for yourself, which will drop you straight to your final destination in Alleppey. Fares for cabs for a ride from the airport to the Alleppey are around INR 1900 for a small cab, and INR 2500 for larger cabs, depending on your final drop location in Alleppey. You can book a cab through apps such as Ola, or hire a prepaid taxi from the airport itself. 

3. Train
Many travellers also prefer boarding a train to reach Alleppey from the Kochi airport. The Aluva railway station is a convenient option; 11 kilometres from the airport (you can hire an auto-rickshaw for the same). Following which, the traveller can board a train from the Aluva Junction to reach Alleppey.
