Kufri, about 13 km from Shimla, is the main spot for skiing near the city, with slopes and facilities for both beginners and experienced skiers. It also hosts a winter sports festival in February. The best time to catch snow is mid-December to early February; outside that window there's little reason to come specifically for skiing.
