Sharjah Fish Market, Sharjah Overview

What was once Sharjah’s historic local fish market has been developed into Souq Al Jubail, a market for all your groceries under one roof. The majestic domed structure opposite Sharjah Creek is home to a well-planned market for fresh produce like seafood, fruits, vegetables, and even includes live counters to enjoy refreshments as you wait. At Sharjah Fish Market, you’re introduced to the comfort of supermarket shopping with the homeliness and price of street shopping.

The Souq Al Jubail fish market boasts of state-of-the-art facilities to source and preserve its fresh produce, strict shopping standards to assure the best quality, and fixed prices to take away the hassle of bargaining. It has almost a hundred shops, a separate cleaning area, and an air-conditioned ambience for even the hottest of days. Things to Buy at Souq Al Jubail

Note: Unlike other local markets, Soul Al Jubail has fixed prices across all stalls. And bargaining is not encouraged.

Meat Variety:
You can purchase Indian mutton, Australian steaks, New Zealand lamb, and seafood such as prawn, lobster, clam, octopus, and different types of fish. The availability of fish depends on the catch of the day.

Fresh Produce:
Meanwhile, the fruits and vegetables section includes local and imported produce like peaches, broccoli, yams, gooseberries, lettuce, and pomegranates. This section is best known for their dates, a specialty of the country. They are sold in small or large packets based on customer requirements and are massively popular. Be sure to try some when visiting, you won’t regret it!

Best Time to Visit Souq Al Jubail

As with any kind of grocery shopping, you will find the best produce early in the day. If you are keen on shopping here, it’s ideal to visit the market before 8:00 AM. This is likely to be the busiest time of the day and you’ll see lots of crowds as well.

For a less crowded experience, you should visit later in the evening by around 6:00 PM when the market is winding down. There’s also an outstanding view of the waterfront beside the market during sunset.

Every day, the market holds a unique auction of the ‘catch of the day’ inside a blue enclosure in the market. This is held twice a day at around 6:00 AM and again at 4:00 PM. If you’re interested to witness this, these are the best timings to visit.
