Mumbai to Ooty

One of the faster routes to take from Mumbai to Ooty is to take a connecting flight to Coimbatore and continue onwards by road. Coimbatore International Airport, in the city of Coimbatore, is the closest airport to Ooty. It is situated at a distance of 97 kms from Ooty. 

Flight Options 

One must book a flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), Mumbai to Coimbatore International Airport (CJB), Tamil Nadu. A non-stop flight will take approximately 1 hour 55 minutes and costs up to INR 3000 to 5000. Other connecting flights have layovers in Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad. These flights cost between INR 4000 to 6000 and take up to four to eight hours to reach Coimbatore.

Transportation from the Airport 

From Coimbatore, one can board a bus which will take only three hours to reach Ooty. This is the fastest way of reaching Ooty from Mumbai.

The road distance between Mumbai and Ooty is 1198 km. There is only one route to reach Ooty from Mumbai.

Route: Take Bengaluru-Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Santacruz-Chembur Link Road, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Flyover, Pipeline Road, Road Number 7 and Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road/ Jeejabai Bhosale Marg to Bengaluru-Mumbai Highway/ Mumbai-Pandharpur Road/ Mumbai-Pune Highway/ Sion-Panvel Expy in Mandala. From here keep following Bengaluru- Mumbai highway/ Mumbai-Pune highway, AH 47 and NH 48 to Tumakuru and then to Tumakuru-Kunigal Road and Kunigal-Maddur Road to NH 275 in Somanahalli. Continue on NH275 and then take NH 766 and NH 181 to Mysuru-Ooty Road in Theppakadu. Keep following Mysuru - Ooty Road to the destination in Kathadimattam in Ooty.

This journey will take approximately 20 hours, and the estimated fuel charge can be between INR 5000 to 10,000. The roads in this journey can be a little bumpy.
