Thunder World, Ooty Overview

Thunder World is a themed amusement park in Ooty. Also known as Dinosaur Park, it is famous amongst the young and the old who visit to get a feel of going back into the past and experiencing illusions or witnessing the world of spirits. The park is divided into themed sections – the Jurassic Jungle, the Vortex and the Haunted House.

It also consists of a 5D theatre and a Camera Museum. Every visitor would not just get to explore the amusement park, but they can also get to experience these themes in interesting ways. Plus, there are delicious snacks to enjoy in between these activities. Parents often bring their curious little thrill-seekers to Thunder World for a unique, educational and memorable experience.

At Thunder World, visitors can take a walk through the rainforests of the Jurassic Jungle and the Haunted House. There are models of various types of dinosaurs that one can study. The 5D experiences at these sections are not only exhilarating but also extremely scary. The premises also have replicas of the Taj Mahal, India Gate, the Golden Temple and the Howrah Bridge.

The Vortex is where visitors can capture breath-taking photographs amid 3D paintings that create some interesting illusional effects. The only thing one needs to be aware of is that there are additional costs other than the gate entry fee and that is because every section has a separate entry fee. How To Reach Thunder World

Ooty is best reached and explored by the roadways. There is no railway station or airport in Ooty. But, those planning to take a flight or a train can book their tickets for Coimbatore which is the only city closest to Ooty with an airport and a railway station. From there, one can either take a bus ride or a cab ride to reach Ooty which is approximately 100 kilometres away. They then need to follow the route via NH 181 – Peyton’s Road – North Lake Road to reach Thunder World.

From the Coimbatore Railway Junction, Thunder World is located 90 kilometres away. The route that leads to the amusement park from this railway station goes via – Old Post Office Road – Avinashi Road – NH 948 – Ranga Gowder Street/ NH 181 – Vellaingadu Road – NH 181 – Ettines Road – Coonoor Road – Commercial Road – North Lake Road. Thunder World is located about 400 metres ahead from the point where North Lake Road begins.

From Coimbatore International Airport, the amusement park is located about 100 kilometres away. Travellers need to head towards Airport Road and then follow ahead through Avinashi Road – Coimbatore IT Park Road – Vilankurichi Road – Saravanampatti Kalapatti Road – Sathy Road – NH 948 – SH 80/ Annur Avinashi Mettupalayam Road – Ooty Main Road on NH 181 – Ettines Road – Coonoor Road – North Lake Road to reach Thunder World.
