Dejima, Nagasaki Overview
A fan-shaped artificial island that was Japan's only window on the West for over two centuries of national seclusion, when Dutch traders were confined here and nobody else could come or go. Sixteen buildings have been rebuilt on the original footprint. Admission is 1,100 yen and it stays open until 21:00, far later than most museums, which few guides mention.
